Modèle aux 1000 visages

The many faces of Sulking Barbie when Ken has rejected her. “1000 faces of the model” is an installation of small porcelain portraits of Barbie’s face, all different, and yet all made from the same mold. Aren’t these “badly done”, “failed”, or’ deformed” reproductions more interesting than the original standard model?  These creations represent the modern woman’s quest for her own identity, non-standardised, non-stereotyped.

And for the Oh no John exhibition, some of the Barbie faces are transformed into jewels, by Claire Baloge, in order to offer to every one of us the possibility to express our longing for non-conformity.
