Entre deux assiettes creuses.

First there was the “arcopal” plate, bought, used, transmitted, used again, broken, preserved, forgotten, rediscovered, reconstituted and finally its story told, and the text written.

It is about the return of memory , an everyday event, a small misfortune.

The very noticeable repairs, done with tape, transmit the utopian wish of preservation, where we try to hide the misfortune.

The text adds a personal dimension to the plate, a mass-produced object, and offers a testament, beyond the simple broken plate, evoking the “independence” of the individual being and its complexity.

« Entre deux assiettes creuses. » can be compared to a contemporary archeology.

In the text, John is the one who broke the plate, and the mother is the one who whispers « Oh No John! ». « entre deux assiettes creuses. » introduces us to the unbreakable link that exists between John and his mother. The plate is here to attest that everything really happened.
